Transport

There are many ways to travel in England. But motorways and roads are Britain's most common transport routes. There are about 225,000 miles (362,000 km) of roads in Britain.

Motorcycles

Motorcycling is popular in Britain and I'm not just saying as a transport, because there are people especially guys who are collecting motorcycles (which is quite popular 'hobby'.

The age limit for driving a moped is 16 and you need a provisional licence for that.


Cars

About 75% of households have at least 1 car. Car is the most popular way to travel in Britain.

 

Lorries

Around 65% of the (heavy) goods are transported by lorries.


Taxis

 All the taxis in London are black, but in the rest of the country they are different colours (red, yellow, blue, black, orange..etc.).


Trams



Trains

Britain is one of the most biggest rail networks in Europe with over 11,000 miles (17,500 km), around 1,500 trains a day and some 2,500 stations.
The major railway stations in London are Victoria, Euston, Charing Cross and St. Pancras.



The Tube (London Underground)

The first line was built in London, 1890. London has the biggest tube network system in the world. You can call it either London Underground, Underground, The Tube (as it is known locally).

Coaches And Buses

London is known for its famous single decker and double decker buses but outside London there are "normal" looking buses. We use coaches for going on school trips, going or coming from the airport and for travelling longer distances.
