Pubs

The word 'pub' is short for 'public house'. There are more than 60, 000 pubs in the UK (1,600 in Northern Ireland, 5,200 in Scotland and whopping 53,000 in England and Wales).

A pub is a very fundamental to the culture of Great Britain, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia and Canada.
In many places, especially in small villages, a pub can be the main meeting point of the community.

Pubs are a big part of British life. People drink, eat, play games, talk, relax and hang out with their mates and family.
They often have a garden as well. Parents can take their children in pub gardens with them and enjoy the day lovely day together.

British Beer And Other Pub Drinks:

Bitter is the most popular kind of British beer.

But lager is nowadays more popular.

Guinness is a creamy and very dark kind of beer called a stout. It's popular all over Britain but made in Ireland.

Cider is another very popular drink. It's made from apples, can be stronger than beer, described as dry or sweet.

Pubs do sell soft drinks (non alcoholic drinks) too. An orange juice is a popular pub soft drink.
Most pubs offer Belgian, German and French beers too.

Pub Food:

Nearly all pubs sell pub lunches and snacks. Such as: pie and chips, chicken and chips, fish and chips, ploughman's lunch, pasties, lasagne, burgers, steak and ale pie, bangers and mash, Sunday roast, chilli con carne, and shepherd's pie.

Opening Hours?

Most pubs are open from 11am to 11pm. But it depends.
